What Guests Are Saying
Chalk Lake Campground offers excellent access to a lake, river, and numerous hiking trails, making it ideal for families and group camping. Camp host Randy receives high praise for his friendliness and helpfulness, contributing to the campground's clean and well-maintained environment. While some sites are close together and lack shade, the stunning views, tranquil sounds of the creek, and proximity to local attractions enhance the overall experience for visitors.

Great shaded sites near the water. Some of the sites were too close to neighboring sites, but we were lucky and had friendly (and quiet) neighbors. We enjoyed swimming at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and feeding the chipmunks at St. Elmo during our stay.

I made a reservation for the day after Labor Day for three days. When I got there someone was in my site. I told them that is was mine and they tried to talk me into another site. I have chosen that one for 10 years as it has a great spot for meditating and reading by the creek That is even my tent in the picture on the website. They had a reservation up to Labor Day, but thought that they couldn't get Sep 3rd because it wasn't available yet. The campground host was not there. I showed them my reservation on my laptop and they still didn't move. I went to wait for the host and the woman camper found me there. i told he I would wait a while and then go up to Cascade as I knew the hosts there. She left and when I drove back by my site, they had moved. I guess they felt bad as they helped me set up my tent and move in. Then it started raining and It rained all night so I couldn't sleep, so I just gave up and went home. Too much hassle.

We love this spot - stayed for 8 nights! Hot Springs 2x, St. Elmo ghost town 2x, fishing, hiked to waterfall. Just a lovely week+ in a great spot.
