Clean, safe and comfortable. Flush toilets close by and showers. Water went ice cold in shower after about 2 min but that may be a plumbing issue as I shut the water off and soaped up then turned it back on to rinse. Started to warm up again after about 20 seconds but very wary of inconsistent shower temps. Staff was pleasant, wood available for credit card purchase. A little inconvenient that the gate closes at 9P and you have to “hike in” to your site of caught out too late. But all in all a pleasant experience. Will list this campground under my favorites.

West Thompson Lake Camping is very nice. Sites and facilities are clean and well maintained. Sites are private. Firewood is available at a very reasonably price. The hosts are very friendly. If you have a CT fishing license the lake is very accessible. There are some very nice hiking trails which begin right in the campground. We have camped here 3 times and we are looking forward to many more.

West Thompson Lake Campground is a little hidden treasure! I live nearby, and have biked by this place a million times. We really wanted to go camping on a whim last second, and were able to get a site for two nights. The campground is very well kept and clean. There is nice separation between sites and between sites and bathrooms. The site we had featured a nice large pad that I could get my pickup bed rig into with no issues at all. The staff was super friendly and had some events going on over the weekend. The wood was also great burning wood and was cheap compared to what I have been seeing lately. I will certainly be staying here again sometime!

Perfect place for a quick getaway or even a long stay. Geat hiking trails and West Thompson Lake make this a definite win for anyone wanting great views.

It’s an awesome place, it’s quiet, clean and the trails around the lake are well maintained. My wife and love really enjoy our time there. We just wish it would stay open through Columbus Day.

Nice small campground with large, spacious partially/fully shaded sites. Hosts John & Deb and park rangers were wonderful. The lake itself offers great paddling opportunities and the hiking trails were phenomenal - well-shaded mostly with some open grasslands - could go distances with different trails.

This is a lovely, well kept campground. The hosts are friendly and hard working, they even rake the sites between stays!
The only issue that keeps this from being a 5 star review is the bathhouse. They are kept very clean, but there is only one shower per gender, and the water temperature fluctuates wildly. I understand that this is a 40 year old hot water system and desperately needs an upgrade.

The campground very well taken care of, very clean. So many activities to do near by my only disappointment was the fishing on the lake, I was there for a few hour and didn’t catch anything but still had a relaxing time. There’s also a playground for the kids. The bathrooms are so clean I was shocked so far the cleanest bathrooms of any campsite I’ve gone to.

The campground sites are very nice. Bath house water is great in the shower until someone else turns on the shower ( broken relay ?). The only BIG ISSUE IS LOCKING THE GATE AT 9 pm. We walked the hill up to our site, I thought my husband would have a heart attack. Why does it need to be locked for entry it's a peaceful safe area. !!
