Alexander Springs Recreation Area offers a beautiful and well-maintained environment, with clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and a lovely spring for swimming. At $45 per night, with no water or electricity, I expected a better cared for campground. The boundary around the tent pad was broken and chipped concrete. There were weeds and other vegetation in the tent pad. Multiple sites that I saw had broken grills and overgrown vegetation. The bath house had a vent fan that sounded like an airboat. Several of the fixtures in the bath house were broken or inoperable. You could not control the hot and cold in the shower. The area around the spring was also overgrown and not very well kept. It was much better kept when the US Forest service took care of it. Since they have given it to a vendor to handle, it seems like all the money is going to profit. They have a bunch of young staff that seems to have little to no experience and managing and maintaining a campground. We also visited Juniper Springs which is handled by the same vendor, they are not faring any better.

We spent the July 4th weekend camping at Alexander Springs Recreation Area and had an amazing experience! Our campsite was clean, spacious, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff truly made our visit exceptional. Everyone we met was friendly, professional, and always happy to help, chat, or offer great tips. We especially enjoyed talking with Donny down at the canoe launch, such a kind and knowledgeable person. The staff at both the gatehouse and the store went above and beyond to assist us whenever we needed anything. The springs themselves are beautiful and refreshing. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy this little slice of paradise again!
