Alexander Springs Recreation Area

My boyfriend and I reserved this campsite after doing some research and absolutely loved our trip. The staff were incredible; Jenna went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a wonderful experience. Since we were located further into the park, she graciously delivered our firewood to our campsite so we didn't have to lug it all the way to the back to camp! The bathrooms and showers were spacious and clean, and there was plenty of wildlife to enjoy during our stay.

During one of our days, we rented a kayak for a couple of hours. The staff was informative and helpful, providing guidance on a turnaround point and the path.
Overall, I 1,000% recommend camping at this park. We will definitely be coming back and are so grateful for the incredible memories so far!

I went camping for two nights before New Years. Sites a spacious near water and restrooms that were clean. I drove my kayak to the spring and they had a cart to pull it to the launch area. It was kind of far so the cart is helpful. There were no good restrooms at the visitor center. Only two porta potties. Park was not busy during those days so I only saw like 5 people on kayaks. We saw many fish, birds and three alligators. I went with my kids and we all love the time there.

The Springs here are incredibly beautiful. The park is overall beautiful. I wish the trail with the overlook was open, but it's in need of repairs. This park needs more awareness and education about bear safety and the impact of having a population of feral cats. Well there are plenty of squirrels for the cats to hunt, they have a huge impact on the wild bird population. There were definitely less wild birds present in the camping area then there are at other parks I have visited in the area. Fair awareness and education are important for the safety of the bears. A fed bear is eventually a dead bear, because when bears associate people with food, they can become a nuisance, and also possibly aggressive. If we love the bears, we need to not feed them to keep them safe and wild.

We love Alexander Springs. We tend to go from 3-4 times per year. This time we got to the Springs and a really bad storm was coming our way that was going to last the whole time or our reservation. We ask to see if we could modify our dates or at least get a partial refund and still haven’t received a response. Fully recommend the park.

Clean and quiet

Great little park. Easy to get around. Rental equipment in great shape. Staff was friendly and informative.

The good- Always love the springs. Beautiful, clear and that perfect 72 degrees. The small bathrooms were clean and well stocked. We had an issue with our site upon check in and Pam was great!
The not so great- The large restroom showers were a moldy mess. The vegetation (palms and the like) are completely overgrown. Branches scraped along the roof, palms scratching your camper and vehicle attempting to get into your site. Be cautious of the site dimensions. The measurements are WAY off.

Staff as very friendly. The bathhouse for Loop C could have had the floors cleaned more often, but it was the weekend after Christmas and the campground was completely filled, so it was used quite a bit. Overall we enjoyed our visit and will be back.
