I always enjoy camping at Ortona South. Saw the playful otters 15 days in a row! Lots of wildlife to view from the wood footbridge including birds, turtles, otters and alligators.
Unfortunately due to security concerns the dam and Lock were closed to the public. Boats in the river were still observed however.
Plan on returning next Snowbird Season.

Campsite had a great view of the lock and the canal. Rangers were polite and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. We had a great time and will go back soon.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. The grounds are well kept-up. Bathroom/showers are OK. older but clean. If you are looking for the "woodsy" sites/campground, you probably will not care for this one. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I like that the gate is locked early, keeps problems out! As I said before, this is one of our favorite. Also, very quiet at night.

We love this place! It’s quiet and the sunsets are spectacular in March. It’s a short drive to LaBelle where there are some good restaurants. We had a great dinner at an Italian place and a really delicious breakfast at the airport. We enjoy watching the wide variety of boats go through the lock. We have often seen otters, gators, and eagles. Very relaxing.

We had a very relaxing time. The weather was nice. The rangers and attendants were excellent as always. The facilities and landscaping are kept emasculate

The hosts Vicki and Joe were very nice. We love walking the road to watch the cows. Our dogs get into staring contests with them and usually lose. One morning I met the owner of the ranch on his rounds. What a nice gentleman. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. The grounds are well maintained. Watching the boats pass by makes for a relaxing afternoon.
