Beautiful location with a resident alligator (he's cool). Got rather rowdy on a Friday night. Trucks driving fast around the lake, groups of people arriving at 1:30 and driving around several times to find a campsite, a group of people trying to take the campsite we had rerserved online. We felt a bit like rubes as we were obviously the only people who bothered to pay for our campsites. Could use a ranger drive through each night to settle things down.

Except for the camp host, not having control over a family’s kids that chose to ride their very loud gas powered motorized toys. I felt unsafe and uncomfortable if they were only riding on the road, would’ve been one thing but cutting through the lots and going wherever they chose they were just very rude people. He probably had a very hard time dealing with them. They went around flashing flashlights all over the place, disrupting peoples evenings as well.

Always so quiet...relaxed. The week of a beautiful moon. It's absolutely the best but don't anyone believe me (because I want it all to myself).

We enjoyed the quiet and accessibility to the preserve. The dirt road viewing area was one of our favorites. Drive slow and you will see so much wildlife.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- Contact the off-road vehicle office for more information.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Safety & rules
- The campground is mainly for hunters and off-road vehicle users.
- Quiet hours must be observed out of respect for other campers.
Utilities
- Fresh water is not available at the campground.
Pets
- Dogs are required to be leashed at all times.
Vehicles & parking
- Off-road vehicles are not permitted in the campground.
Fires & fuel
- Do not move firewood; obtain it locally and burn it on-site to prevent pests.
Cancellation policy
- Violating park rules will result in permit revocation without a refund.
