We enjoyed our one-night stay at Monument Lake Campground. We arrived just before dark but were able to back our van with ease. Waking up to the beautiful view of Monument Lake at first light was just what we needed - ducks, herons, and alligators! And, we explored the nearby 27 mi Loop Road - full of nature, great for photography - just make sure to leave plenty of time to really take in all that it offers. Next time, we will ride our bicycles on this loop. This is truly the kind of Florida we seek.

Quiet Time is not long enough. This is a nice place to camp along Hwy. 41 in The Cypress National Preserve. Our only complaint is that the people next to us ran their generator constantly (even past the 10 p.m. cut off time, so they could continue to watch TV and it blew exhaust into the center of our campsite right at the picnic table. We went to Shark Valley. There we saw 68 gators, turtles and many birds as we rode our tandem bike the entire 14 mi trail one day and 8 mi of it two days later. Note: the 7 mi back are against the wind all the way, so remember that when doing all 14 mi. Arrive before 10 a.m. as not to wait in line.
