What Guests Are Saying
Clearwater Lake Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful campground, clean restrooms, and friendly hosts, creating a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere for visitors. Many guests appreciate the spacious, well-maintained sites and the variety of outdoor activities available, including swimming, kayaking, and hiking. However, there are concerns about a significant tick infestation, which has affected several campers and their pets, suggesting the need for better awareness and prevention measures.

I had a very good time at Clearwater Lake, the guy at the check-in was very helpful, there are plenty of trash and recycling receptacles. I was on site 15 and to asphalt pad was crumbling and it was had keeping my trailer on it not to mention it was very unlevel, otherwise I had a great time.

My site was small, wedged in between the bathrooms, roads and neighbors.
No privacy. Site 1-A
It was not level and hard to sleep in a slant.
I have visited several campgrounds in Ocala, do not recommend this one.

Lovely Place. Nice and quiet. Caught a few nice bass. Did the hike around the lake a few times. We did experieince a few chigger bites so be aware and use repellant. We will definately be back!

I choose the location because of the availability to shopping and dining locations and special events that I attend yearly

Overall our weekend at Clearwater lake was great, due in no small part to the rangers/hosts. Our experience started out a bit unnerving as the first thing we came upon was a very thick/low branch on the entrance to the park. With a bit of back and forth we were able to pass it without incidence, and again another low branch a bit further down the road. Once we checked in and were reassured that we would be able to get to our site we progressed without difficulty only to see that site 34, while gorgeous, was too sloped for us to stay in. We went back to the ranger station assuming we would be ending our weekend before it started. Once there we were informed that the campground was full except for the "emergency site." The ranger went out of her way to get us approval to stay there. Once there, the camp host made his way over to make sure we were OK with the site. It was equally lovely but not as private...oh well. The views were beautiful.
Other than the low branches, only on the road in, the only negative was there were a lot of ticks. Unfortunately, we see that in Florida when the oak trees lose their leaves. Absolutely protect yourself and your pets.

Had a wonderful time. We invited 10 other RVs to meet there with us. They also had a great time. The camp hosts were marvelous as was ranger staff in the entrance. The bathrooms were immaculate. Everything was perfect. See you next year!

Nice and quiet (except highway noise) during the week, a bit busier on weekends mostly with families. Haven’t experienced any loud parties in the 3 stays here.
Bath houses and campsites are kept clean.
Close to springs and the Atlantic beaches. The lake itself is clear and peaceful. Nice sand swimming area.
Several campsites need maintenance to the parking pad to make them wide enough to have all tires on pavement (as forest rules state). They also need fill added so the sites are a bit more level off the pad (think ankle injuries).
Overall, a great campground with a bit of TLC needed.

I’ve visited this site twice and I’ll definitely come back again! The staff and groundskeeper are really nice and helpful. The views of the water are awesome and you feel relaxed with the benefit of hot showers!
