What Guests Are Saying
Clearwater Lake Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful campground, clean restrooms, and friendly hosts, creating a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere for visitors. Many guests appreciate the spacious, well-maintained sites and the variety of outdoor activities available, including swimming, kayaking, and hiking. However, there are concerns about a significant tick infestation, which has affected several campers and their pets, suggesting the need for better awareness and prevention measures.

Been a good customer at Clearwater Lake Recreation Area for many years. I always enjoy the Ocala Forest. But I am still very unhappy about changing the checkout time to 11 AM. Quite frankly, it's ridiculous. There is very little that needs to be done for the next guest and during the weekdays that goes double since there aren't really that many campers. I always feel like I have to rush on the morning I have to leave, and there certainly is no time to take one last bike ride or hike. Therefore, I spend more time at the State Parks now which still have a 1PM departure time.

Had a wonderful first time experience in Ocala National Forest. Clearlake Campground is in a beautiful setting. I was on the B Loop and as soon as I parked I walked the Lake Trail, which was spotless and empty. Beautiful and peaceful. The campground was also spotless and the site were very well equipped. Especially appreciated the bear-proof food lockers (although no bears were seen). The restrooms were GREAT! Immaculate and well-maintained. Dishwashing Station? How cool! Shower? Needed after several hours on the Florida Trail. Especially nice were the gate keeper and camp host. Both were very friendly, helpful, and informative. I really appreciated that. Overall, a fun experience that I’m sure to repeat.

Best 5 day vacation in years spent with my son. We found our new spot, friendly humans are all we encountered and the peace was overwhelming, thank you.

The campground is beautiful and the staff members were kind and very helpful. The bath houses were very clean and well kept. We stayed during the week and there were very few other campers there. The only reason I gave only three stars is that there was one group that was very noisy. The first day and night they yelled, blew an air horn and talked over a loudspeaker. It was constant and went on for hours. Unfortunately we didn’t realize that we should have complained to the camp host because the second day he came by our site and asked if they had been noisy and then he went over to their site and told them they had to settle down. He paid very close attention once he knew they were a problem. From then on during the night they were quiet but they were still very noisy during the day. It seems that no matter where you go you can always run into a disrespectful group. We didn’t hear a peep out of anyone else in the whole campground. I can’t say enough positive things about the camp host and the lady that checked us in. They were great.
