What Guests Are Saying
Fort Pickens Campground offers a beautiful, secluded environment with friendly campers and staff, making it a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts. While the campground is well-maintained and features nice updated restrooms, some areas need maintenance, such as uneven asphalt and cleanliness in the showers. Despite minor issues, many visitors express a strong desire to return, enjoying activities like biking, fishing, and exploring the historic Fort Pickens.

Still love the Ft. Pickens area. But the campground has gone down hill. The common areas such as the restrooms and showers really need to be refurbished. Plus whoever cleans them needs to raise their standards or be replaced. Also, the campsite parking was an issue. They don't want you parking in front of your camper if you're getting on the grass at all. I can understand when it comes to keeping the park looking nice but no one wants to park away from their site. Especially those that are handicapped. Widen the campsite entrance and that could easily be resolved.
Like I said, I still enjoy the Ft. Pickens area. I always recommend it to others. But it's time for some updates and a little change.

Excellent spot, right by the bathroom and trail to the bay behind the spot.

Fort Pickens is one of our favorite campgrounds. You have access to the gulf, the bay, and the fort. Lot's to explore and learn about. One thing I will do next time is look more carefully at the site selection - some of the sites have shade, while others have more sun (there is a restoration project in progress to replace lost trees).

Have camped here for 60 years and never tire of the beauty, wonderful trails, beach side and bay, fort, sunset, Blue Angels practices.... on and on. GREAT place to visit. Even better to camp. This time the bathrooms were not well maintained. Some showers closed altogether, many needed repair. Hot water wasn't available after peak hours. All shower stalls had mold, peeling paint and were sometimes nasty. The dump stations at the entrance to Loops B, C, D and E: the one on the right was locked out. A tall retaining wall has been added around both of the dump sites. It makes dumping very difficult. Everyone I observed had to manually pick up on the the black water and gray water hoses to get the contents to flow over tall wall, again and again. Very bad design. We went to the dump station in the A Loop and had no problems. First time I've even had anything negative to say about this park. It is a TREASURE.

Love it. My only suggestion is there be a list of things going on in park. For instance viewing of the blue angels for practice or the snorkeling in the bay. Ect.

E2 is only partially shaded with all afternoon/evening sun on the front half. This site is longer than most. I had a 25’ bus and a 2 door Jeep with room to spare. The showers/restrooms are not vented well for summer usage. Even the cold water is hot! 🤪 Washer/dryer is in restroom building in C loop. Dryers do not dry well. Be prepared to run 2xs. Each machine is $2.50 a load.

We camped at E02 and E04 this week and enjoyed our time there. The Campground is kept very clean and maintained. The sites are each very different with some having overhanging branches or short concrete pads but it is all documented very clearly on each description before you make your reservation. The beaches there are beautiful and we enjoyed the walk there. The only reason for 4 star instead of 5 star was there is only 1 dump station for B,C,D,E campgrounds so check out day can be a wait. We went to A campground to dump as it is cleaner and less congested. Showers and bathrooms were kept very clean although no A/C. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

On E64 the electric power box was too far from the concrete pad hardly could reach it.
