What Guests Are Saying
Fort Pickens Campground offers a beautiful, secluded environment with friendly campers and staff, making it a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts. While the campground is well-maintained and features nice updated restrooms, some areas need maintenance, such as uneven asphalt and cleanliness in the showers. Despite minor issues, many visitors express a strong desire to return, enjoying activities like biking, fishing, and exploring the historic Fort Pickens.

Fort Pickens Campground has one of the best locations I’ve ever been to while camping in my life. The campground is nice, the roadways in and around the campground are nice, and the nature trails are great. The camp hosts were very polite and helpful and Loop A is right across the roadway from the beach. The only negative issue I could talk about is that the bathroom and shower house was under reconstruction and the portable showers and porta potties could’ve been a little bit better maintained. However, this was a temporary situation that has to happen to keep these facilities, up-to-date, so I understand. I had a great day and can’t wait to go back.

The campground was nice! Roots on trails made biking a bit rough but the fort is neat and the beaches gorgeous!! The sewer dump area has a high containment ridge which makes dumping harder. Bath houses nice and well maintained.

Interesting site... for a smaller RV/camper this is nice. Please pay attention to the location of the trees/bushes... the height is very low. Ft. Pickens is a busy campground, but is quiet at night. Also, they are repairing bathroom/shower facilities.

The spots are really close but the campers were really friendly adding to the experience. The forts are a must see and the beach is amazing. I highly recommend however I would caution those with larger rigs camping on loop E.

One of the best places to camp we have ever been to. Beaches were one of a kind and the facilities were great too. Will be back again.

The campground is fine. The campsites are a bit close to each other, particularly front to back, so I would recommend getting a campsite that's on the outside of the loop. The bathhouse is nice, showers are warm. Be prepared for just how lousy humanity has become. The showers repeatedly were abused. People left trash in there, someone left a bowel movement in there on 2 separate occasions during our week there. Someone chained a deep cycle battery to the sink in the handicapped stall they were recharging at the outlet there, etc. etc. The campground? Pretty decent though a little tight. The people who work and volunteer there? Hardworking and unappreciated. Some of the people camping there? I wish harm on no one, but there are some that I wish could be taught how to be a decent human, by any means necessary.

We love coming to Fort Pickens. This was our second stay and we enjoyed it as thoroughly as our first visit! We love the accommodations - yes, the sites are smallish - but they have what we need! Our campsite was pretty level and dry (even when it rained hard one night). The improvements they are making (new showers and restrooms!) were needed and are much appreciated! But you cannot beat the location of this magnificent park! Trails galore to walk or bike and explore the area. Wildlife to observe (eagles and osprey nests on this trip). Beaches so numerous, and NEVER crowded! Historical sites to walk and learn about the area. The remote location adds to the charm of being there. You leave crowded Pensacola Beach behind and enjoy nature at its best!
