What Guests Are Saying
Big Scrub Campground offers a peaceful and clean camping experience with friendly and helpful camp hosts. The facilities, including bathrooms and hot showers, are well-maintained, making it a comfortable stop for campers. While the access road is bumpy and some areas show signs of wear, the campground provides a great atmosphere for outdoor activities, especially for families with children.

Wonderful campground. we have been here a few times. Its great for camping and riding 4 wheelers on the trails. The camp host does a great job checking campers in and maintaining the campground.

The hosts were great and it’s a lovely spot. The crowds of people arriving to use their ATVs meant it wasn’t very peaceful in the morning, but the evenings were great.

Stay away- park rangers are rude and not helpful, first time there and 2 female park rangers stopped us and said we were on illegal trail. We had only been there 15 min and couldn’t check into camp site until 3. They did not recognize there own riding permits we purchased online through gov website . They proceeded to issue a $180 ticket and said “ you need to turn around and go out the way you came. They didn’t provide any direction and said the trail we should be on was at campsite . Riders beware, that trail is so narrow and dangerous , if you have a sided by side , it will scratch from all the limbs and no room to pass and no visibility to see anything oncoming . We immediately loaded our ranger and proceeded to go home, it wasn’t even worth staying or setting up camp . The price of campsite and the price of riding permits and price of ticket was about $260. It was the worst hour experience ever. I will not be back!!!!

This campground was excellent for me and my family. We went there to camp and ride atv's. It is in the middle of nowhere so bring all supplies that you need. The campground host does a great job maintaining the bathrooms and the property. She is very nice, and very helpful. We will definitely be going there again.

First come first serve for every site. Multiple bathhouses in excellent condition and well maintained. Campsites aren’t private and are out in the open, but great experience nonetheless. Groundskeepers are so friendly! Great trails for off-roading!!

Excellent host, very flexible. We tent camped and changed our initial site to a nicer site for a tent. The sites are large and have fire rings (some with a cooking grate), picnic tables, and a nice bear box that you can lock if you have a padlock. Some sites may have electricity. There is very limited shade so we brought a beach umbrella and zip tied it to the picnic table. Bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. The road to the campground is well maintained dirt and is 5 miles if you enter from the north or south. Get a site further away from the dirt access roads to avoid any dusty conditions with traffic zipping by. We stayed at site #40 and it was perfect for our tent. We had an ATV and a motorcycle. The initial part of the OHV trail is sandy and pretty tough riding a bike. As the trail splits, it gets better but still sandy for a bike.

The trails were a blast however I would recommend one way traffic. There were several occasions that we had close calls at blind corners. The trails are narrow and difficult to pass oncoming traffic

It is a 4 mile ride in to the campground on dirt roads. It would be a great place for OHV toys. We were in a Class B Van and it was a bit rough getting there. For us (since we didn’t have an off road toy with us) the other campgrounds in the National Forest were better.

Found ourselves down a four wheeler trail and got stuck. Oops. But the area is beautiful and plenty of 4x4 trails to have fun on. But if the trucks small enough and you miss the marker you could ended up like us. Made it about 1000ft from the trailhead when we got stuck.
