About Lake Springs

Lake Springs Recreation Area is one of the most popular parks on J. Strom Thurmond Lake. The park is located on Georgia State Highway 221 within twenty minutes of Augusta, Georgia. The 70,000 acre lake and its 1,000+ miles of shoreline provide excellent boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking and picnicking.  A $5 per vehicle day use fee is required to enter the park. All Federal Passes are accepted. Payment can be made on site, credit card only, no cash accepted.  The boat ramp and fishing pier are open year-round. All swim beaches, picnic tables, and group shelters close after Labor Day, September 6, and reopen April 28 EXCEPT the Deer Run beach, tables, and group shelter are open year-round.

What Guests Are Saying

The reviews highlight a lack of clarity regarding beach access at the pavilion locations, which led to disappointment for some visitors who found no beach at their reserved pavilion. Instead, they had to drive to a different area that provided beach access and amenities. Improved descriptions that include beach access information would enhance the experience and prevent misunderstandings.

Nowhere in the descriptions of any of the pavilion locations does it mention whether or not there is beach access. So we were surprised to find no beach at our pavilion. We ended up driving to another spot that had a few picnic tables and benches along with a beach. So I basically wasted $75 because we didn’t use the pavilion I reserved but instead used a free area. Beach access really should be something listed in each pavilion description.

We absolutely love Lake Springs. The beaches, bathrooms and pavilions are always clean. We only wish the pavilions had ceiling fans and they were open longer in the spring and fall months.

Our family enjoys having our spring reunion at Mallard Point in Lake Springs. Plenty of room, tables, shade, sun, safe swimming areas. Looking forward to next year.
