Petersburg

Beautiful lake side campground. Bathrooms could use some updating, but they were clean and usable.

We love Petersburg! Close enough to town but still great camping on the lake. We have never had this problem at Petersburg before but the ants were TERRIBLE! We sprayed around our camper and still ended up getting ants. Would be nice for it to be mentioned at check in or a sign to inform people staying at the campground. We will definitely stay again.

ANTS!!!
We were bombarded by sugar ants the whole time we were there. We had 2 other groups of friends and family members on 2 other sites that had the same problem.
Our camper is kept clean. And have never had a problem before anywhere we go. This time we woke up with them crawling on us. All over the walls. We reported it to the camp host as well as the Corp of engineers ranger station. He said he would let maintenance know. There needs to be a notification posted plainly at the gate so other campers can take precautions. Maintenance should treat all the sites with something to deter the invasion. One other issue was the bathroom on loop B. The door on the men's room wouldn't close. The shower wasn't the cleanest. The latch on the stall didn't work. I understand they are planning to close the campground this fall for more work to be done. Maybe these issues can be addressed at that time.

Just about the best camping in north GA. Beautiful lake. Watched bald eagles fishing. Good bathrooms. Super nice volunteer personnel. Could live there easily. Will be back.

No water at lake is the big problem, campground is not well kept up, spots overgrown with weeds,grass needs to be cut, it was pretty sad, it used to be to be a wonderful campground but not anymore.

Excellent sites , but park needs sites to be cleaned and trash picked up

This has been 1 of our favorite camp grounds to visit. Since after the storm and the rebuilding process it is even better than before. Still has a lot more work that is being addressed it is going to be better. Needs another boat ramp and a couple of new bathroom bath house. Always quiet.

We arrived at 4:16 - there was no one at the gate to check us in. There were no campground host in site our entire visit. We were unable to find our site because there was no signage. When we were walking around looking for the bath house two cars stopped and asked if we knew where the bath houses were. Our site was littered with cigarette butts and the fire pit didn’t lay on the ground. The lake is beautiful and I realize that the campground is still undergoing renovations due to hurricane Helene however our neighbors had issues pulling out in the morning and were stuck for hours until finally a fellow camper came to help them (again ZERO campground host arrived). This has always been a family favorite and I believe that most of the negative I’ve stated could have been avoided had the hosts done half of their duties.
