We had an amazing time here. Spent the weekend camping. Right on the water with a little path to it making it easy for us to get toys and fishing poles down.

Love the campground! Only complaint: who ever had the site prior to us threw watermelon and corn husks in the bushes on our site. Watermelon attracted tons of ants.

Our campsite was beautiful and very private and shaded. The beach and lake didn’t disappoint either. There was a lack of presence in park staff. And a camp store would have been useful for those items that we forgot from home. Thankfully Evans Ga is close so we were able to get what we needed. We will definitely go back again!

Site was set up well and restrooms/showers were clean and water was hot. The staff was welcoming and nice. I would recommend this campsite to anyone!

Petersburg used to be my absolute favorite place to bring the camper and spend 4 or 5 days. With the Hurricane Helene storm cleanup unfortunately, they let loggers come in and not only did they clean up downed trees, they cut quite a few good standing trees around the campsites as well, meaning that much of the shade that used to be at Petersburg is now gone. In addition, while they allowed trees to be cut around campsites, they didn't allow any cutting within so many feet of the lake shoreline, so what could have been done to help the view by cutting select trees did not happen. Now there are stumps all around each campsite and each area is starting to get overgrown. Once the canopy is removed, all the undergrowth grows up very quickly in central GA. What was once a stately, secluded, shady campground looks much more like an unkempt, open, and recently established campground. The bath house near our campsite needed some maintenance, leaky faucets and torn shower curtains. Overall, we didn't have an unpleasant experience, but it wasn't like our past experiences at Petersburg, it's going to take years to get it back even close to what it used to be.

This is a beautiful campground that has been carefully restored after Hurricane Helene. We really enjoyed our stay, but the only concern was the people who had been using the campsite before us left a lot of trash and liquor bottles everywhere, so we had to do quite a lot of cleanup when we first arrived.

Although the weather was extremely hot. The camping experience was awesome. Nicely shaded and large sites. Can only imagine the destruction of the prior storms.
We will definitely come back again.

This was our favorite site at Petersburg until this trip when it rained a good bit our first afternoon and the whole pad was flooded. We had about 2-3 inches of standing water until everything dried up.
