ANTS!!!
We were bombarded by sugar ants the whole time we were there. We had 2 other groups of friends and family members on 2 other sites that had the same problem.
Our camper is kept clean. And have never had a problem before anywhere we go. This time we woke up with them crawling on us. All over the walls. We reported it to the camp host as well as the Corp of engineers ranger station. He said he would let maintenance know. There needs to be a notification posted plainly at the gate so other campers can take precautions. Maintenance should treat all the sites with something to deter the invasion. One other issue was the bathroom on loop B. The door on the men's room wouldn't close. The shower wasn't the cleanest. The latch on the stall didn't work. I understand they are planning to close the campground this fall for more work to be done. Maybe these issues can be addressed at that time.

We love Petersburg! Close enough to town but still great camping on the lake. We have never had this problem at Petersburg before but the ants were TERRIBLE! We sprayed around our camper and still ended up getting ants. Would be nice for it to be mentioned at check in or a sign to inform people staying at the campground. We will definitely stay again.

Glad we were able to get back to camping after Hurricane Helene tore up all the local campgrounds . Petersburg still has a ways to go, but they’ve done a good job at getting as many sites open as possible

We were suppose to be there for 2 nights July 31 and August 1st leaving on August 2nd in site 38. We spent one night and woke up to our camper filled with thousand of tiny ants. We spent 1 night and left early the next morning b4 anyone was at the gate. We could not continue our vacation and had to return home. This was the beginning of our vacation. Left a note on our tag but did not hear anything.

Still a lot of cleanup needed from hurricane Helene. Campground use to be so much nicer. A lot of underbrush around sites that needs to be cut back. Sites are not clean and fire rings not clean after last camper Volunteer host do not put in the effort like paid ones did. Campground just looks neglected

Site 15, unlevel gravel Better bring up doormat.,It’s nothing but gravel that sticks to your shoes.
In six or seven years, this could be a very nice park. If they were to start planting now.
