Only stayed one night to photograph the Perseid Meteor Shower, however, was pleasantly surprised such a great campground can be only a few miles from my suburban home. The check-in was met with a friendly gentleman at the gate, the campsite was well kept and right on the lake, and the other campers delightful. I'll definitely be back and soon!

THIS CAMPGROUND IS NOT KEPT UP. GRASS NEEDS TO BE CUT AND THE WEEDS HAVE TAKEN OVER! IT IS SO GROWN UP YOU CAN'T GET DOWN TO THE WATER TO FISH OR ANYTHING. TONS OF DEBRIE HAS WASHED UP ON THE SHORES, LARGE DRIFTWOOD, OLD TREES AND LIMBS. WE WERE SO DISAPOINTED TO HAVE A NICE CAMP LOT BOOKED ON THE WATER, BUT COULDN'T EVEN GET TO THE WATER TO FISH FOR THE GROWTH OF WEEDS AND BRUSH. I HAD TO GO HOME AND GET MY LEAF BLOWER TO JUST BLOW OFF THE PINE NEEDLES AND CONES SO I COULD PUT MY OUTDOOR RUG DOWN! PLUS, THE PREVIOUS CAMPERS HAD LEFT A BAG OF GARBAGE TIED UP ON THE STEEL POLE AT THIS CAMPSITE. DISCUSTING FOR SURE!

This is my favorite campground! Bathrooms are always clean, the sites are big. This year the guy that was there was very nice. But I did love the field beside the bathrooms before they planted flowers because for years we would gather people and play kickball with different campers but now the flowers are all grown up.

We love sweetwater! But… they need to do a better job at sites. Tables are old and need replacing and the grass areas in some of the sites is nothing but mud. Beach is okay for a lake but it’s muddy as well. Overall experience is 100% for cost but wouldn’t mind paying more to improve!

Nice campsite, the ivy was so thick the campsite shouldn't be considered waterfront and was infested with small black ants. Other than that the site and campground was great, I will definitely be returning.

  • Maximum of three vehicles per campsite
  • Camping limit is 14 consecutive days or 14 non-consecutive days in any 30-day period at all Corps of Engineers operated campgrounds on the Allatoona Lake Project.
  • Off-road vehicles, golf carts and ATVs are not permitted
  • Entrance gate is closed.
  • Digital Copies of campground maps are available online. Please print ahead of time if you would like physical copy. 
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
  • Primary Occupant must be 18 years of age or older.
