Sweetwater Campground

Bathrooms need renovations.

I been goin to sweetwater for 48 yrs since I was 6 months old seen a lot of changes over the yrs and the ones I miss most is the show they put on for the reptiles and other stuff it was between the shower house and beach. And the nature trail that was across from the shower house and ended at the bathrooms around 1-13 campsites. Now it’s not as cool as it use to b. But I keep going till I die.

Love this campground! Went here as our first ever camping experience and the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! We have been back multiple and have future dates planned as well. Very quiet and relaxing. Highly recommend!

All was good but the showers and restrooms were not clean at all. It had black mold on shower corner and bottom area. I went to store and got cleaning supplies to clean showers and toilets. Also got hand soap to put in both women and men's. Because there was no hand soap at all. There was toilet paper and that was all that was even done. If it was not for the restrooms and showers I would of given more stars.

It's an ok campground. Make sure you get a waterfront site and make sure you have access to the water.

Based on a couple of pictures posted on the site when you book it, you can clearly see the lake. But when we arrived, everything was so overgrown that the lake wasn’t nearly as visible as I had hoped. We usually book water‑front sites so we can get in the water directly from the campsite, and with all the trees down it made that really difficult. With the amount of vegetation there were A LOT of ants, bring ant spray! I just wish the Corps of Engineers campgrounds would stop allowing over growth and fallen logs to just stay in the water on the shore. It seems like this is happening at most of their campsites. It used to not be like this, so it is just sad.

Public bathrooms were horrible, filthy, shower heads broken, and drain not draining. I will not camp here again.

We absolutely loved the campground and lake, my only complaint is the bathrooms were very far from clean and the grass really needed to be cut. But we did have a great time, and enjoyed our stay.

I will say plan early and book early. This was a nice location for our first time camping here. We wanted to be closer to the lake for fishing. The first spot was ok. However, we moved to 005; it was much better. We were in a better spot to fish. The rain didn't help, but it was relaxing. The staff was great, very friendly. I have the chance to do it again, I will.
