Sweetwater Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, friendly staff, and access to the lake, making it a favored spot for many campers. While some reviews highlight issues with maintenance, including overgrown grass and cleanliness in bathrooms, the overall experience remains positive, with visitors enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and planning future visits. Third time we've stayed at this campground- it's a great campground, good facilities, clean and friendly staff. Only reason I scored it low is my RV was pretty much attacked by ants that climbed up the power cord and onto my RV. We are talking about thousands of ants, like an entire colony was attempting to relocate to my rig. I sprayed two cans of insect repellent to stop them. Ended up having to fire up the rig (they were all over the engine compartment too) drove it to home depot to get more insect spray and traps. Sort of interrupted what was a pleasant camping experience.

If you want to play on the beach, bring your boat, or feel like you drove into the woods, this is the place to go. The access to Lake Allatoona is wonderful, the beach is nice. The beach also has a play structure. You can use the boat area to put your boat into the lake. Or a little drive further takes you into the woods. This is a nice park to stay at. The bathrooms need a little updating and thorough cleaning, but that is the only problem I found.

Great place to camp! Only drawback was a young girl at the beach screamed “shut the f*** up several times. There were a lot of young kids there and definitely didn’t need to hear that!!!!! Kids were not being watch and would take floats not belonging to them.

The Host and The Rangers take Very Good Care of This Campground. I Would Love to have it Remain Open Until the Middle of October. I Think the 100 Loop Needs More Speed Humps and Posted Speed Limit Signs. Can't Wait to be Back in the Spring.

This was our 4th or 5th weekend at Sweetwater in the past 5 years. This campground is convenient to town, has great loops for kids to bike ride, and the gate attendants are nice. The sites are great, deep for plenty of parking, shaded, and equipped with a fire pit and grill. We generally stay in the high 140s because we don't have "facilities". This is my one complaint and it's a big one. The restrooms have always been our least favorites among other places we've camped because they are older and never have soap (BYO). However, on this visit, they were worse than we've ever seen. There must be a plumbing issue, maybe they need to replace the pipes or toilets, There was standing water in 2 of the 3 women's stalls. This must be addressed. It is absolutely unsafe and unclean to allow these conditions and I hope they have plans to fix this in the off-season.
