Sweetwater Campground

We have been camping at Sweetwater for many years. It's sad to see how run down it is getting, the beach area looked terrible, the grass is not being maintained like years past. This past trip our campsite flooded during the rain, my outdoor rug was actually floating in the puddle of water that was standing outside the camper, drainage defiantly needs some attention. I would love to see the campground make its way back to the well-kept area it once was.

Nice COE campground but some sites are a little difficult for a big rig. Even though it may say it accommodates your size doesn’t mean you won’t have to do A LOT of maneuvering to get into it. So if you can checkout the sites before you book your stay,

The campsites were unkempt, with no camp hosts or staff on site to maintain the facilities except staff to sign people in and if there was not sure what they did. The bathroom and shower areas were poorly maintained overall—some fixtures worked, others didn’t—and the showers had mold everywhere. The individual campsites weren’t cleaned or kept to any reasonable standard. After looking at numerous sites, I found cigarette butts scattered around. In the best cases, previous occupants had tossed them into the fire pits (which is still gross), but many were just left on the ground. Some sites had grills while others didn’t—it was completely random. I won’t be returning. Can’t say what do you expect for the price because sites in Forsyth County are immaculate.

We finally got a week off to camp and had made our reservation very early in the year for 4th of July week. We got all set up despite the hot weather, but riding around the camp ground we were really disapointed on how well the camp ground has been ignored. There are only a couple places you can ever get down to the water to fish. This camp ground is grown up in weeds so bad. No weedeating and very little grass has been mowed. The camp spots are covered in pine cones and trash from the trees and weeds. Very little attention is given to this camp ground. We will plan better after this summer season for sure. Bald Ridge Camp ground in Forsyth county is beautiful and well kept. Sure wish Sweetwater was since it's so close to home for us to book on a regular basis. Sweetwater sure needs an upgrade and clean up!
