My tent is rather large. A mini manson tent after camping in a 6 man! I was a little concerned the spot might be to small. When I arrived I found I could put 3 of my tents in the spot. At that time the sun was beating down. 30 min later I had full shade! Perfect. No issues with power or water, The spot was blown out so no tree stuff in the way. It was nice and quiet. A lot of folks walkiing by all waving and saying hello. Nice folks. The rest room was just around the corner. The rangers and everyone running the place were awesome. Give them an A plus. They made me feel like family! Not the ones that want to shoot me the good family people! lol. I had to move out and found that I needed a few more days. They found a spot for me and the transiton went without any bumps. They wernt out of their way. You hired some really good people. Thank them all for me. I will be back soon. I love the peace and quiet. Wrote pages while I was there. Capt Mike Worley

An excellent campground BUT its closure every Labor Day is far too early. The months of September and October are some of the best months for camping but Sweetwater is always closed during those months. Please change this policy and stay open 2 months longer.

A security camera must be installed at the front gates. Officers were looking for a runaway girl and wanted to contact owners of 3 trucks that used the campsite (110) across from me. Times and footage would have been helpful.
The staff was very professional and careful about what information was available. They are trained well.

Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 11am. It used to be check out at 3pm. I’m not sure why they changed it. Maybe they have a good reason, but it seems ridiculous. It’s a campsite, not a hotel room. Bring back 3pm check outs.

  • Maximum of eight people per campsite
  • Maximum of three vehicles per campsite
  • Camping limit is 14 consecutive days or 14 non-consecutive days in any 30-day period at all Corps of Engineers operated campgrounds on the Allatoona Lake Project.
  • Off-road vehicles, golf carts and ATVs are not permitted
  • Entrance gate is closed.
  • Digital Copies of campground maps are available online. Please print ahead of time if you would like physical copy. 
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
  • Primary Occupant must be 18 years of age or older.
