Our first time camping at Woodring Branch. This place is beautiful. Nice and quiet here. We got site 35 and have a gorgeous view of the lake. We will definitely be back.

Woodring Campground is another great Corp of Engineers campground for RV's, with a couple of caveats. We spent a terrific long weekend at this campground about 20 miles from Ellijay on Carters Lake.

On the positive side, it's quiet, peaceful, great lake views, level concrete sites, easy water and electric hookups, nice boat ramps, small beach, and small playground. No problems with driving in and setting up our 30' class A motorhome on site 21.

The only downsides are that: If you're much larger than 30', the drive up the long and twisty entrance road (about 3 miles) and to the campsites may be challenge. Watch out for low and side branches. There is also a low bridge (13'7") on Hwy 76/Old Hwy 411 just north of Sugar Hollow Rd. Also, as mentioned, it's about 20 miles or 30 minutes to the nearest town.

Otherwise, it's a great little campground that we intend to return to.

Hear this from a Regular Camper - This is one of the Best I have been. You can hike, you can bike, you can camp, you can swim.

Very relaxing, You would wake up to a Priceless view of the river and soothing sound of the waves. A must visit for everyone. Family fun - Oh Yeah. There is a Beach they have carved out for kids (and adults too). Also a good kids playground

They have both electric (RVs) and primitive camping. Restrooms are very neat and cozy - They have laundry. We didn't reserve, but walked-in to the site on Saturday, The staff were so helpful - they gave us a 20 mins pass into the site and asked us to look and pick the spot we wanted.

Tips:

* Check-in is at 3pm. The site is closed at night, so you have to get in before they close (hours vary by season - be sure to check the hours). You can go out after night, but can't come in until it opens next day.

* No firewood available in the park. Be sure to buy Georgia firewood before you come, if you want to light campfire. Nearby Retail stores are at Elijay ( about 30 mins away)

* Some camping sites needs a stroll, as you may not drive your car near the camping site. Be ready to carry your tent gears and boats, for a few yards.

* The camping site is surrounded by the Carters Lake, so you will get a Island feel. The camping sites are also mostly build in the banks of the lake to give the Private feel and warmth.

* The sites we liked were 39,40,41,42. All of them were so good.
40 being the Best, you can just walk into the lake water (look at Pic). Grab 40, if you can.
