I love Old Federal. I wish that some of the primitive sites would add electric so I can tent camp but have electric for my apnea machine or kitchen light or a fan near the table. Im not sure what that would be called tent with electric .... Tent camping in the RV site... well its just not the same. Plus the pads aren't intended for tent spikes so we had to go on the lawn and then they were cutting the grass and I worried we were going to get clippings on our stuff.
The water view from our tent was amazing and the birds were so beautiful to hear all night when falling asleep and waking up. There was a pretty blue string of lights on the boathouse across the lake and the first day was windy so the sailboats were out looking lovely on the lake.
Sunset over the lake was beautiful and the clear night sky you can see some stars and the bright constellations like Orion anf Ursa.
It's close enough to town that we got fried chicken from Publix for dinner and ran out for Chick-fil-A for the next night. But it feels so isolated from the nearby hustle and bustle.
The bathrooms are nice but the light outside the door was out so it was hard at night. The lighting was such that at night it was hard to see in the stalls.
I loved the host Patricia. She was nice and gave a good chat upon my arrival.

Old federal is my favorite campground around the lake, love the lake views and that each site has some space so you aren’t packed in like sardines. Wish it had more then one dump station but it’s ok we will wait in line , it’s worth it.

Most camping sites were parallel to the road so if blinds were up inside was vividly visible from the road.

Lake Lanier is a beautiful setting with lot’s of things to do. Old Federal Park is one on my favorite. Rules of campground make for fun camping for everyone. Staff is more than friendly, just good folks. Most spaces are placed really well and have great views.
