The beauty of the lake and the surrounding area exceeded our expectations. The lake was calm for the two days we were there, and we had a blast trying our new origami canoe.
We were at campsite 8, close to the water, but it looked like any nearby campsites would have been just as nice.
If we can come again in the future, we will be sure to bring along some kind of ant deterrent! The little critters found their way into the camper and had a blast.

Site not cleaned from previous user so there was some trash laying around. Almost all sites offer direct access to water but not this one. Lost power twice due to weather in the area. Nice level paved site with easy back in.

Had one of the best campsites in this specific park, however, "MIDGE" bugs set in on us the the following morning after our arrival. These bugs came in a massage swarm, covering the entire campsite and our RV. It was horrible. The park Attendant told us this was "the outdoors and camping, and bugs/insects were just a part of that". The Midge bugs were only on our site, and other neigboring sites were not affected. They did move us to another site (of course which wasn't nearly as nice as what we had). Also an ANT infestation occurred on the site we were moved to. This Army Core of Engineer park is not properly managed/treated for insects at all. This is the only time such an event has occurred for us - in all out years of camping expeditions. Would never reccommend this park to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The campground is well taken care of. The water was shallow on our campsite and my grandchildren loved it. The bad thing about this campground are the ants they are infested with piss ants need to be sure to take ant spray and off to try to beat them back a little. Some people take sevin dust and spread it out around their campers. But they willing kill your crickets and wormβs. They even got in my boat, they climb across the rope to get to my boat. Army corp engineers may need to put some ant eaters in these campground. Beautiful sites to be ruined by ants.
