What Guests Are Saying

Whitetail Ridge offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with friendly staff and well-maintained facilities. Many campers enjoyed the spacious, clean sites with lovely views of the lake, perfect for relaxation and outdoor activities like fishing and kayaking. However, recurring ant infestations and some dated restroom facilities were notable concerns, especially for those camping in tents; overall, it remains a favored destination for camping enthusiasts.

The camp grounds are wonderful, easy to get to, the reason for a fair review is only if you plan on putting a boat in the water. The bank at every place we pulled up to was covered in trash. And I don't know if there was algae blooming or what but there was a green stuff floating on the water like pollen but green. So if you plan on boating i would recommend to find cleaner water. If your just camping is great. I know the water isn't the fault of the camp grounds, but the authorities. But you do think they would clean up that mess on the banks.

Really nice campground. Staff was very friendly on check in and check out. Area was clean. The bathrooms are a little run down, but very clean. We got a lot of ants in our trailer, but that's just nature sometimes.
Overall we had a great stay!

We stayed at Campsite #10 while celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary. There was so much we absolutely loved about our stay. Our campsite was beautiful - peaceful, shaded, and right next to the water. It was the perfect location for relaxing and enjoying nature. We enjoyed bringing our kayaks, fishing on the lake, and riding our bikes. The lake is absolutely gorgeous.

I also want to compliment the campground staff. The employees were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The restroom facilities were little dated; however, every morning they were spotless and smelled fresh.

Unfortunately, our experience was significantly affected by one issue that became impossible to ignore-the overwhelming number of ants throughout our campsite. The ants were everywhere. You couldn't lean against a tree without hundreds of them crawling onto you. They covered our campsite, invaded our outdoor supplies, got into our kayaks, and eventually found their way inside our camper. We spent five days constantly spraying around the campsite, camper tires, doors, windows, roof, and inside the camper itself. We would think we finally had them under control, only to find hundreds more later that same day or the following morning. Thankfully, we had stored all of our food in sealed containers, but were were still constantly battling them.

After several days, it became exhausting. Instead of relaxing and enjoying our anniversary, we found ourselves spending much of our time trying to keep the ants under control. Camping naturally comes with bugs and wildlife, and we completely understand and expect that. However, this was far beyond what most campers would consider a normal outdoor experience. This is not an isolated incident but an ongoing problem. Management should consider implementing a more effective ant control or extermination program. Guest are paying to enjoy their camping experience-not spending their vacation fighting off persistent infestations.

Other than ants, great campground

Great place, very quiet and beautiful views. However it’s the first state park I’ve stayed at where the gates are pad locked at 10am and sometimes unlocked at 7am. Had to blow my horn to get out one morning it was 7:15a. I think the pad locked gates are a danger and pose more of a risk than safety.
