We camped in a tent right on the lake; we loved it. Swimming in the lake was lovely (with water shoes) - we went with our 5 year old grandson, he was happy just to swim and play. Although we worried that the motorboats and jet skis might be too noisy/disruptive, they were not too close most of the time (mid-week, in July). The bathrooms were a bit of a hike but it was worth it for such a beautiful camping spot. Bathrooms were well-taken care of, as was the whole campground. Luckily area thunderstorms missed us and there was a little breeze from the lake and night time temps in the low 70s - tolerable for sleeping. There are great hikes nearby - and waterfalls!

This is one of our most favorite campgrounds. We visit 1-2 times per year. The lakeside location is fantastic, with perfect mountain views and sunsets. The park is pretty clean and some of the sites are very private. Blue Ridge is very close and has a bunch of great restaurants and shops.
