Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area offers a peaceful and scenic camping experience with well-spaced, clean sites and beautiful access to a lake and hiking trails. Campers appreciate the friendly hosts and the tranquil atmosphere, ideal for families and nature lovers. I had a great time at the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott. The cabin is big, with a huge upstairs open bedroom with about 4 beds lined on both walls (about 8 beds in total). With a washer and dryer upstairs. The downstairs has a huge open kitchen, dinning, living room, with a wood burning space heater that looks great when lit and produces enough heat. Downstairs there is also a tub/shower with toilet and vanity bathroom. The bathroom looks like it was remodeled recently. Clean and open. The limestone driveway that leads off the main asphalt road is pretty steep so you may want to make sure you have good grip tires. If you don't want to park your vehicle on the steep driveway you can do what I did and park your vehicle across the driveway where there is just a slab that must be where the other cabin must have been, because it is close enough and flat. The lake is nice, the staff are friendly. Just be warned to NOT bring your own wood you have to buy it locally there at $5 a bundle which is a fair price. I would recommend cabin or even the RV/tent spots here.

Showers were cold and we picked up a mouse that got into the RV. Overall, the campsite was great. Beautiful scenery and the trail that took us to the AP trail was directly behind our campsite, which was nice.

It was a great location to be able to see so many things. I don't think there is a dump station. We never found one.

It was a great place. It was clean, bathrooms were well stocked and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning! The staff was beyond helpful when we mixed up our check out date. The staff was able to coordinate with the incoming camper and allow us to remain on the same site for another night.

The campsite manager for the south loop was absolutely lovely. He went above and beyond to make our stay fun and comfortable. The best experience I’ve ever had with campsite staff, he was so nice. The site was really nice and they were all spaced really well. We did blood mountain and it was a great hike.

This is my 15th year going to Winfield Scott. Great place. Great camp host the this last year. Joey and Brittney on the south loop and Wayne on the North. Only a few sites for big rigs and you better be good at backing with limited space. I'm a truck driver so not a big deal for me. No cell service at all!!! NO DUMP STATION!!! And the closest park with a dump station is NOT close.
Thanks

Three visits this summer and all were great times. Joey and Britney are outstanding hostesses. We are regulars at LWS Rec Area now for 43 years.

First, This is a really nice park! clean, many private sites, fishing pier, nice beach, a few nice trails local and longer if you want...That said this park just did not click for us. Maybe it was the rain, maybe because it was our first trip with the RV, maybe because we really wanted to get into Vogel but it was full, maybe because it was the first time EVER in my life(45 years old) I've been asked for my fishing license(which I had, but my 2 sons did not)so our fishing got cut short and the ranger was kind of overly aggressive if you get my drift...not sure but we did not connect with the park. I think there is just not enough "action" going on in the camp area. I tend to like the cmground a bit more humming if you get my drift. Kids playing people walking by etc.. It IS a really nice clean park. We were in the older loop that everyone mentions in their reviews and it was real nice, private, clean. I would absolutely recommend staying here if your looking for a quiet stay at a clean park.
