R. Shaefer Heard campground offers well-maintained, spacious sites with beautiful lake views, ample privacy, and friendly staff, making it a favorite for many visitors. The location is convenient, with easy access to shopping and activities, and the facilities are generally clean. I’ve stayed at this campground several times over the years, and keep coming back. I hate to say it, but this was my least favorite spot up to now. Most sites are Lake front, but this one has a lovely view of the boat ramp parking lot. I got it because it was a pull through. I knew I’d be getting in after dark, and I thought it would simplify things. I was wrong. I tow a 30’ fifth wheel and this spot is in curve towards the left. There is a small retaining wall along the driver’s side, right at hub cap height. Even though I tried to hug the right side of the space, the angle was too sharp and I got hung up on the little wall. Getting out was even worse because the front has a bit of a drop off. There’s just not enough room to maneuver around that little wall. A smaller camper would be fine, but not the 40’ that’s supposed to fit. That said, the people are always friendly and the facilities clean and well-cared for. I will be back, just not at site 66.

Great roads and camper pads, well thought out and kept. Worst restrooms I have encountered! Since there is not sewer at the campsite, the bath house is more important if you are staying more that a couple of days. In the 2 restrooms I tried, only one shower out of three had hot water. The toilet in my area was clogged from Tuesday morning to Thursday afternoon even though it was cleaned each day. They just cleaned the floor and left. We are not likely to revisit.

We stayed for a one night stop while passing through. The pine pollen was bad while we were here.

love the sites, very clean and quite. The bath house is very clean. only complaint is the low water level. Its time for the lake to be at full pool. The gate attendants are very nice, make you feel like you coming home.
