What Guests Are Saying
R. Shaefer Heard campground offers well-maintained, spacious sites with beautiful lake views, ample privacy, and friendly staff, making it a favorite for many visitors. The location is convenient, with easy access to shopping and activities, and the facilities are generally clean. However, some guests noted issues with rude staff on certain days and outdated bathrooms, along with occasional pest problems. Overall, it is regarded as a fantastic place to camp and relax.

One of my favorite Corps campgrounds. Site 24 was spacious and lake front. Plenty of room for a tent. Bath house was clean and adequate, but needs updating. Gas and groceries are close by.

Wet nice campground and the gate attendants were over the top helpful with us … even gave us a number to place that would help us get some firewood , helped me setup my recreation.gov account and everything ! They went above and beyond to be helpful to us ! Pleasant experience

The site and amenities were better than expected. The only downside was the lake was unseasonably low. We had to walk a quarter mile to get to the waters edge and shoreside fishing wasn't feasible. Will make a return trip once the lake is back to normal.

The electric is antiquated. I plugged my battery into shore power and the outlet blew. Completely drained my battery. Not happy.
