Hosmer Grove Campground was a nice spot. Out of the six sites, only one other had a tent set up overnight which was surprising to us. A few groups of people without reservations used the empty sites as a lunch spot. That said, the campground allowed easy access to the summit for sunrise / sunset, and so staying was worth the easy access!

Terrible spot for car camping as most of the spots are not flat leading to some serious lean! We ended up moving to the overflow parking spots because they were flat. Also, a much better view from the overflow parking lot. They should just turn the overflow lot into the car camping area.

This campsite is a great location if you are planning to visit the Haleakala summit or hike any of the trails. The campground has a grill, trash cans, parking space and an outhouse. Something to note is that, parking spaces are tight (but doable) if you are planning on using a rooftop camper or camping van. If arriving late at night, and setting up camp in the dark, be mindful of your sleeping neighbours in nearby tents or vehicles. The campground is very quiet and every noise can be heard. Overall, campground is well-kept by visitors and the park.

The campsite was to be expected. Honestly we just used it as a safe spot to sleep in our rental van before heading up the summit for sunrise. We came into the park around midnight and there was no one at the gate and no one to check us in which was fine. Upon arrival to the campsite there is a little form you fill out for after hours check in and it just gets stuck in a little collection box. Easy peasy.

Ground is kind of sloped, so finding a good tent spot can be a bit tricky, but very convenient, good tasting water, and campsite bathrooms but WITH A SINK WITH SOAP, which is amazing

Nice break from the ocean. Small, quiet, clean campground. Nice park staff. Evening stars/galaxies were stunning and no need for sunrise reservations if you are camped here! Saw several critically endangered birds. Drinking water was cold and tasted good. Only negative were the pit toilets... really, really tough to breathe in them (and I usually don't care about such things).
