What Guests Are Saying
The stay at Lower Penstemon was enjoyable, with a beautiful and quiet campground featuring a lovely creek that kids and pets appreciated. While the restrooms near campsite 1 were in poor condition, the overall cleanliness, excellent campsites, and fantastic trails contributed to a positive experience. However, potential visitors should note navigation issues with the website and campground map, as well as the small size of site 5 for tent camping.

Stay was great ,the website wasn't the easiest to navigate AND i should state somewhere in there that you get charged for your spot and additional charge to reserve on each spot. Which i did not see anywhere.

The campground is beautiful and quiet. It has a nice little creek that my kids and pups loved! The only downfall is the restrooms across from campsite 1 was in very poor condition.

The campground is very clean with a lot of trees. The weather was nice and cool while Twin falls was at 90's. We stayed for one night and it was nice.

Campsite was excellent. Bathrooms were adequately stocked with TP. Weather was great. Trails were fantastic. Colors were brilliant yellows and green.

If you are tent camping I recommend avoiding site 5 as it is extremely small. All the other sites have plenty of space but this one for whatever reason is super small. The table is on a hillslope and surrounded by shrubs. If you are just in an RV it's probably fine. Also the campground map is wrong on the website. The actual campsites are about 1000 ft northeast of where they are located on the map. It's a single road heading straight north with only a small loop at the end. Check google earth to see the actual location.

The place is very nice, but the Lower Penstemon sign was down on the Canyon Rd. so beware. It made finding the place a bit tricky for new to the area camper friends.

The campground itself was great. The vault toilets were terrible. They were filthy. The floors were carpeted with dead flies. The camp host from porcupine springs kindly came and cleaned them a couple of days into our stay. It was not her job, but whomever job it was had failed to do it. Other than that, good place to camp.

It was really hard to find. The lower campground is not labeled and near impossible to find. There was no working water. The bathrooms were quite impossible to go in because of the amount of flies and smell. Once we were settled into our campsite, it was amazing. But the process to get there is somewhat difficult. It is an hour off the highway, and you will have no service.

The campground was dirty when we got there. We had to brush off the table and pick up garbage left by past campers. We left it a lot cleaner than we found it, other than that it was a fairly shady spot. It would have been nice if there was more signage, to where the trails were located.
