If you want to feel like you're out of the way, but want quick access to some modern amenities, this is a great place. Good for families with children with access to a beach. Only 5 minutes away from Donnelly in case you run out of ice or marshmallows. The only drawback is that it is close to a well-used road, so it's a bit noisier than nature is intended to be. There is also cell service (at least through Verizon), which can be a blessing or a curse depending on what you want.

Jim our camp host is the greatest!!! When we went to play in the lake he loaned us his personal kayak's and tubes, he kept the site very clean and checked to see how we were doing when he had a chance. The camp ground is a great place to go spend some time.

Terrific experience at Rainbow Point. We were in the area for Yellowstone, and this campground is close enough that you won't lose much time in your day getting in and out of the park, but far enough away that it doesn't feel at all crowded. One morning we had strong rain, so proximity to West Yellowstone was a huge plus once it came time for breakfast. Good facilities at the campground and a very friendly and helpful host, whose name I've unfortunately forgotten. Be on the lookout for moose, black bears and the occasional mountain lion. We will definitely make this our base again next time we come out to Yellowstone.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
