Grew up coming here every year.. the “new rafting community” were a bunch a a holes. They kind of ruined the whole weekend.

Reservations were easy and the ranger put my reservation name up on our site in advance. There was potable water available on site which was super helpful. I appreciate that there were also several first-come, first serve sites available nearby for our friends who came later. The trail to Dagger Falls was great. Thank you to the Forest Service staff!

Gorgeous area! Expect bumpy dirt roads to get there, and look for the elk early in the morning in the big meadow.

Could not get to campsite due to road closures. Site is very rural and the first two attempts I made were unsuccessful. Found a ranger that informed me I needed to take a third and longer detour (2-3 hours) to get to site. I did not attempt as it was getting dark and I am unfamiliar with the area. Found a roadside campsite for the night instead.

Campground was clean, cleared of burned trees (lots of firewood available) and the only downside was that there was no potable water due to some previous contamination such that the water was not yet cleared for human consumption.

The Salmon River is amazing! So beautiful, nice, chilly and fun to hike around (bring your hiking boots. It is also very popular for white water rafting.
