We had a two-night stay at this nice campground, which is really close to the lake. For a National Forest campground, it was good—but there are a few things you should know before you go.
We stayed at tent site 007, which we chose based on reviews saying it was the most secluded. That was mostly true. The tent area was tucked behind some bushes, though you could still see the road and a few other sites.
One thing to note: many of the tent and some RV sites are fairly open to each other, so don’t expect total privacy. For most tent sites, including #7, you’ll have to park in an assigned spot and walk about 150 feet to your campsite, hauling your gear in.
There were vault toilets—definitely not the cleanest, but not terrible either.
Firewood was being sold at the campground for $8 per bundle. We found it much cheaper in town (about a 20-minute drive away); WinCo had bundles for $5.
The water is potable and comes from an old-fashioned hand pump. You can’t hook a hose to it, and there's a small valve on top you have to hold open so it doesn’t spray out of the water fountain portion. The pump isn’t too hard to use, but it does take some effort. It’s doable solo, but expect it to be 10 times harder. My girlfriend held the water tank while I did the pumping, which worked out well.
There are lots of little critters running around, so be mindful with your food and keep things secured.
Overall, we had a good time. We mainly used the campground as a base for our activities in Coeur d'Alene.
There’s also a 9-mile hike that starts right in the campground, and a scenic 3-mile trail just down the road.
One thing to be aware of: there’s a logging road next to the camp, and the trucks are loud, especially in the valley. They start pretty early in the morning.
I found a video on YouTube that shows all the campsites, which helped us pick site #7—it was super helpful:

The campground was nice and the host was very friendly and on top of all her duties to keep everything maintained. Besides the hiking trail, there wasnt much at this campground. The creek was all dried up and a cat that lives at the campground urinated inside one of our tents on that person's only sleeping bag.

Beautiful spot but the logging trucks make an incredible amount of noise throughout the valley starting in the middle of the night.

Campsite 7 had a perfect hideaway beyond
The tree line to put a tent, hammock, and chairs. Spent most our time behind the tree line rather than the table provided due to the close proximity to other campgrounds. 7 has a perfect nook within the trees to feel much more secluded

nice camp ground with good distance between them. Fishing on lake only by boat.

Beautiful campsite. Some of the spaces are quite small, had a little problem backing in. Logging trucks made it a little noisy in the early mornings. Campground was well kept and clean.

Normally nice but really loud due to logging trucks going up and down using loud exhaust brakes. We had to leave early because it was so loud.

We had a great stay, but camp ground was not very clean as there were broken glass and trash around fire pit and table. we used our own amenities. Great hiking close by

We visited in July 2024. The wasps were horrible and I think there was a nest near our campsite. The sites are very close together. Bathrooms are pit toilets down the road from the parking area. Creek was dry when we were there. Overall a fine place but the bees really ruined the experience.

Stayed here for 3 days ,site was big enough to park our pickup next to our camper. But getting into the spot was not so good the road is very narrow. We have a 34 ft. 5th wheel and rubbed tree limbs on pickup and trailer and the front of pickup went off the road into brush when backing in.
