Pleasantly surprised to find a propane stove and frig in the cabin, as it's not mentioned in the features for the cabin. Nice, clean and comfortable. Also, there's no cell service, but there is a lan line phone in the cabin. Came in handy, as we had a family incident that we were contacted on, via the lan line.

Funky old guard station, we rented this during the off spring season so it was fairly quiet. in the mornings we sat on the front porch and had our coffee. one morning we had several small planes fly overhead and land at the air field just above the cabin. the cabin could use some fixing up but we enjoyed our stay and definitely stay again.

Had a great time. Only issue is firewood. There was enough for us but can't see the wood lasting more than maybe 1 month? You should check on this with the Lowman ranger district office if you are going after January 1. The only source of heat is the wood burning stove. No firewood, no heat, no fun.

Unfortunately, after coming to this cabin all these years and loving every minute, we had a pretty bad experience. Just after arriving, my wife went to open the front gate to go out and the gate. The gate with the post and the two adjacent log rails fell onto her leg causing a terrible skin tear that peeled the skin all the way down her shin. The log fence/gate post had rotted out from the base and apparently had been closed and propped up by rocks by the previous visitors. We had to make an emergency exit to get her some first aid. We are still going through healing with visits to the wound clinic.
