We had a great time at Big Springs Campground. The camp hosts were very helpful. There are a lot of nice shaded campground spots. It is fun to walk to the spring. We love the campgrounds proximity to Lava Hot Springs pool.

Beautiful location! Directions pretty simple to follow. The nature hike to Big Springs was the perfect length (20 minutes round trip) and offered great scenery.
The campground also had low visitation so we didn't feel like our group was bothering anyone. Horse flies were awful, though. SO MANY!!! We were constantly getting bit! Campground hosts were MIA for the first two days of our stay, maybe they had an emergency to deal with or something but it still seemed strange.

Hard to get there but loved the cows during the drive to the entrance. Grass was quite tall. Nice campsites. Only spent 1 night. Not ATV'rs so not ideal for us. Still pleasant but probably won't camp there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed out 4 days at the Big Springs Group Site. The pavillion was fabulous, and vault toilets were close by, there was enough space for our 8 RVs and 8 tents. There are some lovely locations in the trees next to the creek for the tents. It was a quiet spot and we loved sitting around the fire ring in the evening. It is 6 miles from the beginning of the dirt road up to the campground, and about 2 miles in the middle is a little sketchy if you are pulling a trailer and another trailer is coming the opposite direction. It could use more pull out locations through that stretch. All in all, we had a wonderful time and the camp hosts were so kind and gracious. We enjoyed visiting with them when they would come by and check on us.

Beautiful and quiet. The wind did take down some of our tents.

We stay here just about every year. Last year we stayed twice! Its a beautiful campground and great for families. Large sites, beautiful nature trail that's great for young families. At first I was a little put off by the camp host because he was very serious about the 5mph speed limit and the fact you couldn't bring atvs, motorcycles, or utvs into the campground. But the one time he wasn't there to tell people, I realized why. Inconsiderate people acting like the campground was a part of the trails and ripping around all through the campground kicking up dust and making noise to the point you couldnt carry on a conversation. The campground is great, and probably one of my favorite. The camp host is a really great guy who just wants to preserve the essence of why people go camping. Though I could do without some of the people that were there, especially the ones running their loud generator just to watch tv all day. SMH. But we've stayed there 3 times and as long as the camp h

We have been going to Big Springs camp by Lava Hot Springs almost every year for 8 years now. We missed one year when a parent had a stroke. We love it there, it's beautiful and the camp hosts are friendly. And although I understand the rules on no ATV riding in the camp area, I don't like our property being left that far away from where we are at night. So we are thinking about camping in a spot outside of the campground where we can keep an eye on all of our belongings. In the past, some camp hosts would let you ride them out in the morning and back in at the end of the day. That worked well. If the rules go back to that, we will come back. Another big problem is you don't put up all the camp spots on the online reservation site.

Just east of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, look for "Pebble Area" sign and turn left onto Blaser Highway/Old Highway 30. Go north on the paved highway 9 miles to Pebble Creek Road, known locally as Mike's Place or Whiskey Mike's. Turn left across railroad tracks on gravel Forest Road 036. Travel about 7 miles to the campground.
Pebble Creek Road is a narrow single-lane dirt road with limited sight distance and not suitable for the very large RVs (the tour bus size RVs that require overhead clearance due to their height and have limited turning capacity due to length, as opposed to a truck with trailer of the same length which has a tighter turning radius due to the hitch).
