About Kalispell Island Boat-in Campground

Surrounded by clear waters of Priest Lake, the 52 sites on Kalispell Island provide the ideal getaway for people looking for a rugged, but highly rewarding, camping experience on the peaceful shores of Priest Lake. There are 51 single sites on the island as well as one group site known as Three Pines Group Site. This Group Site is located on the southeast side of the island and has been renumbered from Site #001 to site #29 for groups of 10-30 individuals. All sites are only reachable by boat. A popular activity among visitors is to kayak, canoe, or power boat up a 3.5-mile thoroughfare, which leads to the Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area. The upper lake - just like Kalispell Island - cannot be access by car, so water is an excellent navigation option.

We stayed in site 52. There isn't an outhouse next to this site, but the nearest one is a short walk away, so a portable toilet is not necessary. This site doesn't have a sandy beach, but the plus is that it is a semi-private site with only one neighbor, and the site gets both shade and sun throughout the day. Although we had a good experience on the island (we kayaked to the site), we ran into other people who did not. If you are camping on this island to 'get away', then beware. People blast music starting at 8 am, dogs bark and roam into your site in the middle of the night, and people hike right by your site throughout the day. Kalispell island is a great location if you are going with lots of family/friends and can camp together. If you're going on your own, then your experience will be based on how respectful your next door camping neighbor(s) are.

  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.

    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
