Kalispell Island Boat-in Campground

Such a dreamy place to camp. Very large campsite where you can’t hear your neighbors, sandy beaches, a hiking path around the island, and beautiful views!

Pretty good spot, a little rocky so I didn’t beach my boat & I brought my own bathroom, I saw on a map there is one somewhere, but I didn’t see it from the campsite & I didn’t look for it , pretty private also, I packed light since I planned on eating at the Hills resort & it worked out good, I’d recommend it for avid campers that have kids

Had a great time. Weather turned out beautiful, camp site was peaceful and well taken care of. We were bummed not being able to have a fire because of the fire ban but.. Understandable! Downsides were pit toilets were way full again just like last year unfortunately. Parking is always an issue. The short cigarette smoker lady was manning the shack/launch and she’s always hit or mis. Overall, enjoyable trip.

We love Kalispell Island for many reasons. It has a trail that goes around the entire island, and you should plan for an hour to an hour and a half depending on speed and how many stops you do. Out houses are placed in specific areas, the common beaches are outstanding, the campsites are clean with picnic tables and fire pits, and if you are lucky… You might even have firewood at your campsite. (nobody wants to bring back firewood if they didn’t burn it :-)
Be advised that Priest Lake weather is unpredictable and the wind and the waves can cause havoc at times. Ensure you know how to anchor your boat correctly, and or beach it and tie it up well. You are very close to Hills Resort, Priest Lake Marina, and both have some amenities with boat fuel. You just cannot beat this kind of camping at such a low price. What little you pay helps maintain the cleanliness and the outhouses.

The bugs were bad

Water is So rough and cold
The restaurants in the area are disgusting
The water is murky and smells bad
Don't go there the place is evil

We loved our spot and the host at the Priest Lake Marina boat launch was great!

First off, the camping and the sites were awesome! The park ranger and camp hosts were also awesome! Unfortunately some squatters showed up to our camp sites and few days prior because of a cancellation. My brother showed up at 7pm with a boat loaded full of camping gear after a 2hr drive just to find 15 people taking over all 3 of our camping spots! The squatters refused to leave, bullied and harassed my brother and pointed to a misinterpreted sentence in the policy for walk-up/first come first serve camping. My brother drove his boat back to the launch, loaded it up and drove back home. No updated site reservation was posted at our site so we didn’t have a leg to stand on. We did contact the ranger the next day who immediately took care of the situation which was great but it took a threat of arrest from a sheriff to get them to leave! After speaking with the camp hosts and ranger this was a one off situation but it could still happen again. We lost 1 night on our reservation and the stress of dealing with these people almost made it not work it. In the end we had a great time and would still recommend the spot, just beware that this kind of thing does happen and that there are crazy people out there.

The camp sitrs are great; however, the boat launch does not have adequate parking for vehicles and trailers. You book a spot in advance only to show up and find there is nowhere to park. The parking needs to be expanded or spots need to be reserved for thise with a site reservation.

Amazing site, terrible parking availability at the boat launch. Get there early or risk not being able to get there at all! I was traveling in with kayaks only, so no trailer on the car, but still nowhere to park at the launch. Once you make it there, the island is amazing and the Rocky Point sites are wonderfully separated from each other.
