Great camping and the trail around the island was easy and fun for a daily activity. We canoed over and it was a short paddle to our site. It was a bit windy, but the stars were amazing.

Island is perfect!!! The reservation process was easy, however if you need to leave the reserved spot early you loose money and the spot stood empty for a whole week. I don't understand why customer service can't cancel it or you can't modify it online once the reservation starts. Our spot was reserved for 2 weeks, work called and asked me to come in second week. I called customer service. telling that we are leaving early. They said I'll have to contact latter once reservation is over to claim refund ( which was denied three weeks later!!!) and to tell the host that we are leaving to open the site on the way out. The host looked at me like I'm talking foreign, didn't know anything about it. The site was never re-opened.... It stood vacant for a week when it's a very busy season at that island. This was different last year, people were able to modify during their stay, sign ( signs that were saying OPEN or RESERVED) were switched to open and those that came looking for FF spots were able to use it. Waist of spots... Spot staying vacant when families can be enjoying those spots and making memories. I hope it could be re-evaluated and changed. 😊

This is a lovely relatively secluded site that does not have a great tent site or sandy beach. The site was full of debris (there were all kinds of wood pieces littered about). It took an evening to clean up. The lake is gorgeous.

We stayed in site 52. There isn't an outhouse next to this site, but the nearest one is a short walk away, so a portable toilet is not necessary. This site doesn't have a sandy beach, but the plus is that it is a semi-private site with only one neighbor, and the site gets both shade and sun throughout the day. Although we had a good experience on the island (we kayaked to the site), we ran into other people who did not. If you are camping on this island to 'get away', then beware. People blast music starting at 8 am, dogs bark and roam into your site in the middle of the night, and people hike right by your site throughout the day. Kalispell island is a great location if you are going with lots of family/friends and can camp together. If you're going on your own, then your experience will be based on how respectful your next door camping neighbor(s) are.

Love camping on the island. Sites in Rocky Point are a bit small and two of them have rocks that would impact pulling your boat in near the beach

Great place to camp. I like the Island as it is close to Hill's, Elkins, Cavanaugh's, and Coolin for excursions, food, and supplies.
Some out houses are better than others!
The recreation.gov reservation system is not user friendly though!!!!

This sight gets a lot of boat traffic. Boaters cut the corner from north cove and come in closer than the 200’ rule. Sadly a lot of erosion from the constant waves.
