This was our first time to Dam West and really enjoyed it. I would like to see the first come first serve spots go away. Campers leave their RV in some of the best spots and do not stay. Taking away these spots from people that are really camping.

We were greeted by the rudest camp hosts we have EVER experienced!! If fact, the 2 other camping friends that met us there had the same experience. We were new at having to fill up our fresh water tank (as we typically camp with full hookups) and mistakenly went to the wrong pump. He came running out screaming with his arms waving and practically called us idiots! We then checked in and he continued the condescending remarks and comments. The other host in the check-in station with him (which I assume was his wife) was screaming at another camper signing in! We then had trouble with the water spigot, but were trying to figure that out on our own. Again he came running out screaming, picked up the hose and said, "YOU KINKED THIS HOSE"! I don't lose my temper often, but replied "And YOU need to get another job!! That hose was kinked when we picked it up"!! There is NO excuse to treat people like that!! And after talking to the campers next to us, who we did not know, it happens to them EVERY time they camp there, They also are treated very poorly. After that experience, I felt the need to write this comment. Those two need to retire.
With that being said, the campground itself is a beautiful experience! It was clean and shady, level and very enjoyable. Great place to ride bikes. Beautiful lake views. Lots of space between sites. We were on site 24 and even though it was not lake view, it was perfect! We will definitely go back and would have given it 5 stars had it not been for the HOSTS. Next time we will be prepared for the BATTLE with a Counter Attack!! LOL!

This is a beautiful campground. It is well maintained and very peaceful. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to enjoy the campsite as initially intended. The park personnel and ranger were very kind and helpful.

Love this campground. My only complaint is that there aren’t enough reservable spots. We drive over 2 hours to get there and can’t take the chance of getting a first come first serve spot.

Site 86 driveway needs to be widened for two cars. This could be done easily using rock/gravel to widen the driveway.
