Fantastic campground. No golf carts, and other noisemakers. The hosts are the best of any park we have gone to. The Ranger staff was fantastic and nice to talk to. The cleaning staff keeps the facilities top-notch.
The one big problem is that the campground closes the day after labor day. It should stay open into the fall so people can enjoy camping in the fall colors. The Army Corps of Engineers should recognize this need to use one of its prime campgrounds. Opossum Creek is a much better camp than Lithia Springs which is a noisy and less desirable campground.
Opossum Creek is one of those hidden jewels that people who want to camp in peace and quiet, kick back and read a book, have a nice walk, and be away from the pressures of society for a few days. One hates to give the campground such glowing reviews simply the more people who read the good reviews will decide to camp there and suddenly getting a campsite is hard to do.
Wake up AOE, keep Opossum Creek open until the middle of October.

A wonderful place to just sit back and let the world go by. No golf carts, no ATVs, no loud music. Staff and rangers are fantastic.

This is our 2nd visit this year and a really great place to stay. The grounds are well maintained and the bathroom/shower house is always kept clean every day. This is one of our favorite places to camp.

Friday night I had to contact Shelby county sheriffs department twice for noise!!! Deputy came out twice and warned individuals about noise level, stated that they were highly intoxicated or he would of told them to leave. They finally quieted down around 3am. Deputy stated he observed individual urinating outside next to his camper. Individual was at site 8

I like to walk and the smaller campground did not give me many choices of walking. I loved the small pond just for children. Although I think it would have been better for say age up to say ten
