Great site with a nice view.
The only downside is that the restroom is pretty far walking distance , something to consider if camping with kids. We will definitely come again.

The campground was nice. The shower house was in need of a little repair, but they were clean, The sites were little close together, but that really wasn't a problem. Still am not very fond of the reserve website. I know a few friends are talking about selling their campers due to being unable to get a site. Several of the local people that I know have the same complaint. You can't get off work Friday and just go out for some R & R like in the past. This particular stay I would have stayed longer had there been spots available. I will give it another year, but if some major changes in getting sites does not change I may have to sell my camper as well. It is very disappointing that you either can't get spots with friends, or just cant get spots in general. A major disappointment for me is that some of the spots do not even get used. My elderly parents and I tend to camp at the same time, but the "new" camping rules make it almost impossible.

Fantastic campground. No golf carts, and other noisemakers. The hosts are the best of any park we have gone to. The Ranger staff was fantastic and nice to talk to. The cleaning staff keeps the facilities top-notch.
The one big problem is that the campground closes the day after labor day. It should stay open into the fall so people can enjoy camping in the fall colors. The Army Corps of Engineers should recognize this need to use one of its prime campgrounds. Opossum Creek is a much better camp than Lithia Springs which is a noisy and less desirable campground.
Opossum Creek is one of those hidden jewels that people who want to camp in peace and quiet, kick back and read a book, have a nice walk, and be away from the pressures of society for a few days. One hates to give the campground such glowing reviews simply the more people who read the good reviews will decide to camp there and suddenly getting a campsite is hard to do.
Wake up AOE, keep Opossum Creek open until the middle of October.
