What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

Our trailer uses 50 amp svc. We had to drop down to 30 amp because the 220 v kept dropping voltage on one leg. (107v) not enough voltage and trailer electricity kept shutting off. Park power is out dated and meeds to be upgraded to handle more 50 amp trailers.

We stayed at site 46 and it’s on the water as the pictures show. The water looked more like a swamp but we could see lots of wildlife and beavers doing their thing. The site was a concrete pad but needed one lego block to get level. The sites were closer than usual for a COE park and this site looked into the backyard of the neighbor site; no real privacy. The park was clean and great for biking as all the roads are nicely paved. There is a bike path near the entrance of the campground and a hiking trail near the group pavilion day use area. Water spigots are located throughout the park but it would be easier to fill up at the entrance of the park. The water fill/dump station is huge and there are three or four lanes to utilize. Bathhouse was very clean and a short walk from this site but it would be a long distance from some of the other loops. There is a blue tote (Hershey hauler) dump next to the bathhouse but we didn’t realize it was there until a day before departure. The sites that are close to the main channel were very windy compared to the sites near the main entry road/on the swamp.

We had the best temps in Aug other than the last couple of days than we have in years.

Unfortunately, we were there on the hottest, most humid weekend all summer so the weather didn't really cooperate. We left early due to an incoming storm. But, the campground itself was good. Sites were a little close together. The pit toilets could use some attention but the staff at the gate were friendly and the shower house up the road was clean.

Well-maintained, clean, spacious (level!) sites in a wondrous setting, surrounded by birds and animals (and turtles!)
Friendly, courteous Rangers and volunteers are welcoming, helpful and informative.
Bring your bicycles to ride through the savanna prairie and enjoy the wildflowers. Hike through the woods and watch for fox.
Or sit in a comfortable chair and watch the Mississippi River roll by.
