What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

We were there to camp with cousins coming from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Although they all had to drive quite a distance to get to Thomson Causeway, they were so impressed by the facilities that they want to continue coming back.

Very level site!. We got to see a beautiful sunset, despite all the flies and mosquitoes! At this point, the Mississippi is at it's widest, 3 1/2 miles wide. We got to picnic on the water! Lots of critters in this eco-system. Turtles, beaver, bullfrogs, herons, dragonflies, deer and a red-headed woodpecker!! Potters South had a lot of empty sites because they had a lot of new sites poured! There was a dump station at the beginning of the campground, but it also featured a gray station dumpsite for those portable gray tanks that we all use. There is a boat ramp

Love the views. Met a former co worker for the week. Usually yearly, last year flooded out. Love the improvement of pads and new pedestals in South, and more water hydrants in Potters.

Our loop had problems with power. (Site 60) There were multiple power surges almost every day. We have a good surge protector which shut off our rv power to protect it from damage. Our neighbors had the same problems. We left a day early as it was hot and we were tired of the power going out. We loved the campground otherwise.

I incorrectly picked out my site on the map and when I arrived there was disappointed. The recreation booth opened at 4pm so I drove around with the campsite map open on my phone looking to see if another spot was available. There were a couple great spots right on the river. When 4pm came I stopped by park booth when a very helpful and friendly staff member changed my reservation in seconds to the new spot I wanted. Very nice experience and will keep this tip in mind on future trips if needed. Thanks, Bob
