We had one of the FHU sites. #063. Not hard to get level. Great Satilite reception and lots of OTA channels.
Close enough to town to easily get anything you might have forgotten or together something to eat. Town has a pet wash. $20 and you have a sparkling new pet.

This is a low laying spot. When it rained, there was a steady stream that flowed under the camper. There was mud that had settled on the pavement of the campsite that you are forced to drive though. Further, it's adjacent to the shower house and we did catch the occasional wiff of not-so-pleasant odors. Also, there is a gumball tree in this site. For our stay, (late Sept) there was the constant "thud" of gumballs hitting the roof. The curve of the pull through is a bit much for long rigs. We had a 30ft 5th wheel and it was nearly impossible to get the steps on the pavement. They have put a bunch of road pack (which stayed soggy our entire stay) in the apex of the turn. If this site is all that there is, it'll work but there are much better sites.

Easy to get into our site. We drive a 37’ Class A and tow our Jeep. Site was pretty level. Lots of deer in the park. Nice spacing between sites.

Very nice and clean campground very easy to get in and out. The camp spots have plenty of room in between them and you are not right on top of your neighbor. We really enjoyed our stay at Gun Creek. We will be using them again. We had wild turkey and deer come out of the woods right at our RV in the mornings it was cool to see them up close and watch them feed. They take really good care of this campground and it is right on the lake and very easy to get there off Interstate 57. Also there is a really nice Golf course on site in fact you have to drive thru it to get to the campgrounds. Seasons Restaurant is also on the property very good food..

I had not been to Rend Creek before except to picnic 40 years ago when we were driving from Chicago to southern Illinois. It was lovely that day and the pheasants were memorably everywhere! At Gun Creek, the facilities are clean and nice and lake was lovely. The beach at Sandusky was beautiful! The week after Labor Day we had almost everywhere to ourselves. Our biggest problem with tenting at gun creek that the highway noise at night was almost unbearable. It kept me awake the first night. To be fair, the campground was not heavily used by other tenters. Everyone else seemed to stay inside their large RVs and probably didn’t hear it. I only saw 1 other tent when we were there. I like to go to the woods to camp and relax and hear the birds and night creatures but this was nothing enjoyable like that. It got nice and quiet during the day but the trucks must use I 57 heavily at night. Our site had not been cleaned. The previous occupants selfishly left little bits of trash everywhere and allowed their children to use chalk all over the stone picnic table (everywhere excessively and aggressively to the point that we could not use it to sit or put anything on it until we finally poured water on it to wash it off). Gun Creek is not a campground I will return to because of the proximity to I57. The west side of the lake, north or south Sandusky seemed much quieter and closer to facilities we liked to use but once you bother to pitch a tent, you don’t want to have to move it. Tenters, this is not likely the place for you.

I have never been to Gun Creek. But I will definitely go back. It was a beautiful place. Shower houses were nice. There was a playground for the kids.
