Dunewood Campground is a well-maintained and beautiful site with clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and spacious, private campsites. It offers easy access to the South Shore Line for trips to Chicago and numerous nearby hiking trails and beaches. While some campers noted minor issues like noise from train tracks and the presence of insects, most praised the campground's overall atmosphere and cleanliness, making it a favorite destination for many.

Beautiful campground, with really friendly volunteer host. The dump station is well designed such that the RV slopes a bit toward, making it possible to thoroughly drain and rinse the tanks. Only had time for an overnight, but will come back on a future trip through the area.
Had considered the nearby state park, but while the campsite rate was reasonable, an additional park visitor pass requirement made it way too expensive for an overnight stop. Glad to have a federal campground to use!

This is one of my family's favorite campsite. It is close to Chicago. Well kept and clean. Location is amazing, and the sites are more private.

Great campground & friendly staff! Lady at check in was very helpful and answered all of our questions. The bathroom & water stations were clean and easily accessible. Camping spots were large and well laid out, and evenly distributed which helped to keep noise levels appropriate. Fire pit was great for cooking on or sitting around.

The site was very lovely! felt decently private given the fact it is in a large campground. There was a cat that hung around and he was super friendly. Was pleasantly surprised that there were showers in the campground (I tend to assume national park campgrounds will not have showers as they usually don't). Overall enjoyed the campground and the campsite though the pond pictured was not there.

What made it an excellent experience: large, flat, clean campsite with lots of trees for privacy; the fire pit and grill in great shape, as well as the picnic table; close to clean, warm restrooms; very respectful neighbors
