The facilities were nice, very clean bathrooms and spacious campsite. The walk-in sites were pretty well spaced out but a further walk than I anticipated. The main problem was that mosquitoes were absolutely relentless during our early September stay. Plan to cover every inch of your body and wear a net over your head or you will be eaten alive. We ate our dinner and fled to the beach where it was gorgeous and bug free. Left at dawn and at breakfast elsewhere. Simply not possible to enjoy time at the camp site unless you have a screened tent or something.

Spacious site. Clean restrooms. We were happy to have the sink for dishes. Volunteers welcoming and helpful. Very quiet at night. Great phone connections to ATT. Signage throughout the area is very clear as to what part of the park one is close to. Enjoyed Dune Ridge trail, Portage lakefront and Riverwalk, and the Chellberg and Bailly farms. And of course Lake Michigan.

Friendly campground host. The site in Douglas loop was nice and roomy. Just there for one night but walked both loops before departure. Great BBQ restaurant close by.

Wooded sites with good space between for privacy. Bathrooms had decent showers. Extremely buggy. Too many mosquitoes to even be out to fill the water tank. No ranger on duty.

- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
