One of the nicest national forest campgrounds. Very shady and quiet. Well maintained and treated respectfully by visitors.

We were on site 37, which is 100 yds from the bathrooms and still secluded enough to enjoy our privacy. The facilities are very good and keep in good order by a dedicated staffer. Showers are a bonus and unusual in a National Park. Dunewoods is close to all the beaches, a 10-15 minute drive and only 12 miles from Michigan City for ice cream and brew pub.

Rangers are very friendly and helpful. I checked in at noon on my way to Chicago to set up my tent and continue and the ranger gave great tips on navigating that area. Stayed at site 61, which is a walk in site. Only downside of the trip is one of the entrances to the path to the walk-in sites was closed, so I had to take the long way which was a bit confusing. The site itself was spacious and well maintained with a picnic table, fire pit with grill, and pole for hanging things. Make sure to bring a light when you go to the bathroom, and you even during the day. Other than lack of light bathroom was clean and also well maintained. Can’t wait to camp again at Dunewood!

This campground is very well maintained. Lake Michigan is about one mile away and has some of the best sunsets you will ever see!

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.

- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
