The campsites were great! Maybe a little smaller than we have had before, but in the middle of the week in mid/September there were not many camping in non-electric areas, so that was fine. Be sure and bring mosquito spray because we needed ours, but once sprayed we were fine. The pit toilets were numerous and very well kept. No smell at all and clean. At night we used one of the newer and nice comfort stations. There are still some older ones, but we found a very nice new one to use. No real restaurants or grocery stores nearby, so be sure and bring plenty of food. There is ample places to fill water containers with potable water. The staff is very friendly.
We had a nice 3-night stay. Not a whole lot of extra things to do but we did relax, hike the two trails, and enjoy the views of the lake. It is a beautiful area with ravines everywhere. If you have children, there is no playground, so they will have to make their own fun. Good place to ride bikes. Bring some games. We really enjoyed our relaxing time away from the city.
Ice and firewood is available to buy at the gate. We found plenty of dead wood around the campsite, so didn’t need to buy any. It would have been nice to have a hand saw, but we managed without.

This is a fantastic campground. Very very large sites and great separation from neighbors. We full time and this was the best site we have had in years. Nice trails and paved roads for biking. We will definitely return when we are in the area again. And proximity to Bloomington and Nashville (IN) is a plus.

I've been to HARDIN RIDGE six or seven times. Quiet, well-managed, and designed and built to top, NPS standards. The scenery is sublime, and I'm just 20 minutes from downtown Bloomington.
