What Guests Are Saying
Prairie Flower Recreation Area is a well-maintained campground featuring spacious, clean sites with large concrete pads and excellent facilities, including spotless restrooms and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere and proximity to recreational activities in nearby Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines. Some suggestions for improvement include adding more paved sites and addressing overgrown grass and weeds, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return for future visits.

Love the space out at Prairie Flower. Quite, plenty of room for the kids to play. This particular site was a bit unlevel for our 33 ft trailer. We could barely get it level with our Andersen levers and that took a bit of backing in and out to find the most level part of the site.

Prairie Flower is my favorite camping area at Saylorville. The sites are spread out and the campground is super clean and well maintained. I really like B and C sites since they are concrete pads, but they are so hard to get.

Excellent campground and facilities. Very clean and spacious. Disappointing that it will be closed for the entire 2023 camping season.

Location was lovely and the staff was very helpful. When I had an issue with my AC the lady at the check in cabin was able to recommend a local service tech to help fix it. Campground is well maintained and easy to navigate. There's a newly installed 3rd dump station too, 2 facing north and one facing south, for easy access from either direction. For the sites with concrete pads they seem to be very level and the gravel pads are pretty good too, didn't have any issues leveling without needing blocks.
